Additional Service Added to Dublin School Routes

During the school year, the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) operates special routes designed to help students get to and from school. The start of the 2017/18 school year has brought unprecedented ridership to the Wheels routes serving Dublin Schools. LAVTA is aware of the situation and has already taken steps to help with the overcrowding on some routes to the extent possible given available resources.

An extra bus has been added to the morning service to Dublin High School and two buses have been added to the afternoon service. Based on observations on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, this supplemental service is expected to be sufficient to handle the increased ridership.

For those students who are able, LAVTA also has a promotion called GoDublin which provides a 50% discount on uberPool, Lyft Line and Desoto Share trips that begin and end in Dublin. To receive the discount, simply enter the promo code GODUBLIN. The maximum discount is $5.00.

From August 21 through September 1, LAVTA’s annual Try Transit to School promotion will enable students to ride Wheels and Rapid buses for free. For more information on Wheels school services or to provide feedback, visit wheelsbus.com or call 925.455.7500.
