Wheels Seeking Input on Proposed Bus Service Changes

In response to customer feedback about connectivity and routing, Wheels is considering changes to a number of routes effective Fall 2017. Comments on the proposed changes will be accepted through April 30, 2017. Final recommended changes will be presented to the Board at their May 1st meeting. Comments can be submitted by email (info@lavta.org), phone (925-455-7500), or via our online database (link here).

The following is a list of proposed route and schedule changes, which are detailed further in the staff report from the April Board meeting:

Routing Changes

Route 14: To address on-time performance issues, Staff is proposing that Route 14 no longer operate a separate loop from the Transit Center to the Civic Center back to the Transit Center; instead, the route would operate the Civic Center portion as part of its trunk trips to and from Pleasanton. The route frequency would be slightly modified to operate every 30-45 minutes during peak times on Weekdays, and every 45-60 minutes midday and evenings. The weekend frequency would not change. Below is a map of the proposed change:

Route 501: Instead of operating on the southern portion of Village Parkway and on Dublin Boulevard, the route would express to/from the school via I-580 and I-680, entering and exiting the school vicinity via Alcosta Boulevard. Below is a map of the proposed change:

Route 502: In the PM, the route is proposed to start on northbound Village Parkway (in front of the school) and head northbound, making a left on Davona, left on Lucania, left on Brighton, and right on Village to resume normal routing. Below is a map of the proposed change:

Route 504: In the PM, the route is proposed to start on northbound Village Parkway (in front of the school) and head northbound, making a left on Davona, left on Lucania, left on Brighton, and right on Village to resume normal routing. Below is a map of the proposed change:

Route 505: Staff is proposing discontinuation of Route 505 as a standalone service, and to instead adjust the Route 2 schedule, if necessary, to accommodate the main bell at Fallon Middle School.

Route 602: The Parkside Loop of Route 602 is proposed for elimination; service to Valley Trails and Paseo Santa Cruz would continue. Below is a map of the proposed change:

To better connect buses with BART, as well as with one another, schedule adjustments will be considered on the following routes:

1, 2, 3, 8, 10R, 11, 14, 15, 20X, 30R, 54, 70X, 580X, 601
