Your safety is important to us. Wheels encourages you to practice these safety tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride aboard the bus.
Boarding the Bus
- Please get to the bus stop a few minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive, and wait next to the Wheels bus stop sign (or curb stencil). The bus will pull over at the closest safe place to stop, and then you can board the bus.
- Please have exact change for your bus fare ready. Wheels drivers do not carry change.
Getting off the Bus
- Let your driver know that you'd like to exit the bus at the next stop by pressing the rubber strip near the bus windows or pulling the cord.
- Please exit the bus through the rear doors. For your safety, please don't step into the rear stairwelluntil the bus has stopped
Wheels' Top Priority is Maintaining a Safe Transit System
Our operators have been trained to call for a Road Supervisor or for police assistance if they believe there is a threatening situation on board their bus. In addition, surveillance cameras are provided to maintain the safety and security of our passengers.
Strollers/Shopping Carts
To ensure child safety, passengers must remove the child or children from the stroller and fold the stroller prior to boarding the bus. Once aboard the bus the stroller must be stowed
behind the seat and out of the aisle. In no case is the stroller to be positioned so as to block aisles, wheelchair stations, doors, steps, or emergency exits. Passengers
who refuse to control the stroller as described above will be refused a ride. Small personal shopping carts may be brought on board if they are light enough for the passenger
to manage safely, lift up the rear bus steps and are carefully stowed out of the aisle.
Use of Luggage Rack
Items placed in the luggage rack must fit safely within the railing. Strollers, grocery bags and shopping carts are not allowed in the luggage rack.
