Wheels welcomes you back on board with even better and cleaner service!

Over the past 18 months, we have implemented new procedures and introduced new technologies to make riding the bus easier, cleaner and better than ever before. We want to welcome you back on board Wheels buses.

Enhanced cleaning procedures and new onboard features

We have implemented enhanced cleaning procedures onboard all buses, including disinfecting and fogging. High-touch areas onboard Wheels buses and at the Livermore Transit Center are disinfected frequently. Buses are fogged at least once each week to disinfect all surfaces. We have installed barriers around the bus operator compartment to provide a safer environment for boarding and fare payment. We have also installed hand sanitizer dispensers near the front door on all buses.

Fresh, filtered air onboard

We have installed new air purifiers which continuously cycle clean air through all of our buses. These air purifiers use advanced technology to eliminate 99% of germs, viruses, and bacteria in the air and on surfaces, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Real-time arrival and bus load information

Get real-time information on when your bus will arrive with the Transit app. The app also tracks bus capacity, so you can find out how full your bus is.

Contactless payment with Clipper and Clipper Start

Use your Clipper card for contactless payment and pay your fare without touching the farebox. You can also now load your Clipper card onto your phone. Download the Clipper app on Google Play or the App Store to go completely mobile. Just tap your phone on the Clipper reader when you board, and you are on your way!

The Clipper card or app gives you free transfers to other buses for two hours, plus your card automatically becomes an unlimited use Day Pass upon payment of two fares.

Face coverings now optional on Wheels buses

The federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) mandate requiring that face coverings be worn by all passengers riding on Wheels buses was rescinded on Monday April 18, 2022. As a result, face coverings are now optional when riding our services.

Wheels bus operators will continue to provide face coverings for passengers who forget to bring one.
