2025 Wheels Roadeo Showcases Skills, Winner to International Competition
LIVERMORE, Calif.– The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority celebrated bus operator skills and employee appreciation as it hosted over 250 guests at the return of the Wheels Roadeo. The bi-annual transit event invites bus operators, maintenance teams, and other transit professionals to partake in driving skills competitions testing speed, skill, and accuracy. LAVTA and MV Transportation welcomed fellow East Bay operator WestCAT to the competition, with over 15 drivers participating. In addition to the contests, employees and families enjoyed activities, games, and a picnic lunch.
LAVTA congratulates 2025 Roadeo winner Alex Mohn who scored the highest overall in the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) eligible category, winning a trip to the APTA 2026 International Bus Roadeo in Salt Lake City, Utah! Community leaders participated in the Board of Directors competition where Dublin City Councilmember Jean Josey of Dublin came away with the top prize.
Christy Wegener, LAVTA’s Executive Director stated “This year’s roadeo had a fantastic turnout and while the competition was fierce, participants are Wheels family first and showed tremendous support for each other throughout the challenges. We were delighted to host our friends from WestCat in the contest. We can’t wait to cheer on our winner at APTA International Roadeo in Salt Lake!”
