Alternative Service Plan
LAVTA (Wheels) is planning ahead for a possible budget shortfall in future years. While current service is not changing today, rising operating costs and uncertain future funding could require service reductions beginning in Fiscal Year 2029 if new funding is not secured.
The LAVTA Board has approved an Alternative Service Plan that outlines how service would be prioritized if these reductions become necessary. The plan would only be implemented if additional funding is not available.
Any major service changes would include public outreach, community meetings, a public hearing, and Board approval before implementation.
Ridership Focused Reductions
- This option prioritizes serving the greatest number of riders by maintaining frequent service on the busiest routes.

- Maintain weekday service on the four highest-ridership routes
- Rapid routes continue every 20 minutes on weekdays
- Routes 14 and 15 continue every 40–60 minutes
- Continue school tripper service during regular school schedules
- No weekend service
- Early administrative cost-saving measures before service reductions
